About the song :
I've always had a fascination with bats and especially their way of "seeing" by using the echos of their own screams, emitted a couple dozen times per second. Its amazing that they can make a mental image of their surroundings this way while flying around in total darkness with a million other bats. After I signed on to make this track and chose the bat, I remembered that my Mayan Nagual is 12 Aq'ab'al; this Nagual is about Light vs Dark and one of the animals that represents it is the bat. This was also around the time that the coronavirus outbreak was happening in Wuhan and it was suspected of doing the species jump from bat to human...needless to say it seems like the energy of the bat is following me around, and I tried to evoke the mystery of this animal in the track through the tribal percussion, middle eastern dulcimer and vocals, and the cave-inspired effects.
